Can Arsenal’s Transfer Deals Propel them to EPL Glory?

In the highly competitive world of English Premier League (EPL) football, clubs are constantly on the lookout for ways to strengthen their squads and challenge for the ultimate prize – the EPL title. Arsenal, one of the most historic and successful clubs in English football, has been an intriguing case in recent years. With a series of high-profile transfer deals, the Gunners have shown their ambition to return to their former glory. But can their transfer dealings in this transfer window propel them to EPL glory?

The Era of Change

Under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has undergone a significant transformation. Arteta, a former Arsenal player himself, has brought a fresh approach and tactical astuteness to the club. With the backing of the Arsenal board, Arteta has been given the resources to rebuild the squad and establish a new era of success. And the club came so close to clinching the EPL title in the recently concluded football season; a testament that the change is moving in the desired direction. Arsenal are back to Tuesday nights, UEFA Champions League football!

Investing in Young Talent

One of the standout features of Arsenal’s recent transfer dealings has been their focus on young talent. The club has invested heavily in acquiring promising young players with immense potential. This approach not only strengthens the squad in the present but also ensures a bright future for the Gunners. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Emile Smith Rowe (injured and out of the squad for most part of the season) have already made significant contributions, showcasing their talent and potential for greatness.

And then there was Leandro Trossard who fitted in so seamlessly into the team, and made significant contributions to the team play and success. Would these young talents be able to replicate and even surpass the level of performance that was witnessed in the 2022/23 EPL season?

These players are young and talented, therefore baring any major injury concern, I would expect a renewed determination to challenge and clinch the ultimate prize when the 2023/24 season starts.

Building a Solid Defense

A major area of concern for Arsenal in recent years has been their defensive frailties. However, the club has taken steps to address this issue by making key defensive signings. The acquisitions of Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko have added much-needed stability and solidity to the backline. With Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba in the squad, Arsenal’s defensive unit is starting to shape up into a formidable force.

The defense practically tore apart following the Saliba injury and not a few would attribute the Arsenals’ dip and eventual loss of the EPL title to his absence from the squad. Of course there were other contributing factors such as the dip in form of the likes of Thomas Partey, and burn out for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Midfield Maestros:

In the heart of the midfield, Arsenal boasts an array of talented players. The signings of Kai Havertz and imminent signing of Declan Rice will provide added depth and quality to the midfield department. Declan Rice, renowned for his composure and intelligence on the pitch, Rice possesses exceptional defensive abilities that make him a formidable force in the midfield. Kai Havertz, on the other hand is blessed with sublime technical skills, exceptional vision, and a natural instinct for goal, Havertz is a versatile player capable of wreaking havoc in multiple positions.

The acquisition of both Rice and Havertz brings an incredible balance to Arsenal’s midfield. Declan Rice’s defensive prowess and distribution skills will provide a solid foundation for the team, offering protection to the defense while initiating attacking moves.

Both players bring a wealth of footballing skills and abilities that are set to elevate the Gunners to new heights. Are they the key to Arsenals’ renewed challenge for the EPL title?

Goal scoring Prowess

While Arsenal has made significant progress in strengthening their defense and midfield, there is still room for improvement in terms of goal scoring. The club’s success will heavily rely on the performances of their forward line. Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Reis Nelson have shown their ability to find the back of the net, but consistency will be key. Additionally, the return of exciting young talent such as Folarin Balogun, if he decides to remain with the Arsenal after a very successful loan spell in the France ligue 1, could provide a much-needed boost in front of goal.

With the way Arsenal plays, fast ball movements and quick transition turning defense into attack so seamlessly coupled with their ability to make those fine intricate passes in the tiniest of spaces with so much devastating effect on the opponents’ defense, the front men only need to be more clinical and deadly in front of the goal.

Gabriel Jesus had a long spell off the pitch following the injury he picked up at the world cup while playing for his Country, Brazil but the times he played and after he returned from injury, he had couple of missed chances that should have been buried in the net. As the teams’ number one goal poacher, he needs to be converting his goal scoring chances a lot better than he did last season if Arsenal are to challenge for the EPL glory in 2023/2024 season. Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah all need to up their game, delivering the goals week in week out. That is the way of champions!

In all, I believe that Arsenal’s recent transfer deals demonstrate the club’s determination to return to the summit of English football. With young talents, a solid defense, and a midfield brimming with quality, the Gunners have the foundations in place for success. However, it will require consistent performances, effective teamwork, and a winning mentality to challenge the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and may be Chelsea for the EPL title.

While the road to glory may not be easy, Arsenal’s transfer dealings have certainly put them on the right track. Only time will tell if these investments will propel them to EPL glory once again.
