Dangote Subsidiary Awards Scholarships to Students in Host Communities

In a vibrant atmosphere of excitement, Dangote Granite Mines, a subsidiary of the renowned Dangote Group, has bestowed multi-million Naira scholarships upon 60 deserving students from host communities across the country.

This initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aimed at fostering educational development within its host communities. The scholarships cover students from both secondary schools and higher institutions, and the fortunate recipients were assured of potential employment opportunities upon demonstrating exceptional academic performance.

The management of Dangote Granite Mines reiterated their commitment to ensuring holistic development in their host communities, with particular emphasis on education and infrastructure. Education is a pivotal focus area for the company, and these scholarships serve as a testament to their dedication in uplifting the educational standards within the communities they operate.

The scholarship beneficiaries were drawn from five host communities associated with Dangote Granite Mines: Ajebandele, Olorunmodi Ademowo, Saliu Baba Risi, Idi-Omo, and Ijebu-Igbo township. The scholarships were awarded as part of the Community Development Agreement (CDA) signed between the company and the leadership of these communities. By alleviating the financial burden on the parents, the scholarships aim to provide greater opportunities for the students to pursue their education diligently.

During the scholarship award ceremony, Mr. Ebenezer Fola Ali, the Director of Human Assets Management at Dangote Projects, presented the cheques to each of the deserving awardees. Mr. Ali emphasized the importance of education and encouraged the beneficiaries to dedicate themselves to their studies. He highlighted the agreement between Dangote Granite Mines and the host communities, ensuring that deserving students who excel academically would be offered automatic employment opportunities.

Furthermore, Mr. Ali expressed his gratitude to the Sopenlukale of Oke Sopen, Oba Muftau Adesesan Yussuf, and the community leaders for fostering a peaceful atmosphere in the area. This harmonious relationship between the company and the communities has contributed to a sense of tranquility and mutual understanding.

In his speech, Mr. Ali assured the communities that Dangote Granite Mines remains committed to fulfilling its obligations as outlined in the Community Development Agreement. He emphasized the company’s intention to stand by the communities and pledged to adhere strictly to the terms of the agreement.

Additionally, Mr. Ali urged the community leaders to continue their support and maintain peace within the region. He also charged the scholarship beneficiaries not to disappoint their parents and the company by engaging in activities that could hinder their educational pursuits. Instead, he encouraged them to strive for excellence in their respective fields, thereby motivating the company to continue its support.

The Sopenlukale, Oba Yussuf, extended his appreciation to Dangote Group for their invaluable assistance to the communities. He emphasized that the scholarship award is a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to the welfare of the host communities. He implored the communities not to take this generosity for granted, emphasizing that Dangote Granite Mines is paying its dues to the government while offering this support out of love and magnanimity.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Aregbe Grace Oluwadamilola, a student at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management of Dangote Granite Mines for their benevolence. She emphasized that the scholarships would greatly alleviate the financial hardships they would have otherwise faced in pursuit of their education. She assured the company and their parents that the beneficiaries would not disappoint them, and she concluded by offering prayers for the well-being of Chairman Aliko Dangote.

These scholarships from Dangote Granite Mines serve as a beacon of hope for students in the host communities, fostering educational advancement and enabling them to realize their dreams.
