Traffic Diversion: Lagos Shutdown Iyana Ipaja for 18-Weeks

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion at the Alagba ramp inwards on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway from Thursday, August 24, 2023 for a duration of 18 weeks

The Alagba ramp on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway will undergo a traffic diversion starting on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

This represents a further development of the Iyana-Ipaja Bus Terminal Project. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Abdulhafiz Toriola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, stated that alternate routes will be provided for motorists throughout the construction period.

He mentioned that drivers heading towards the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway from the Iyana Ipaja bridge would undergo redirection to the Alagba intersection. From there, they can connect to the slip road on the left side of the Alagba roundabout in order to gain access to the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

Abdulhafiz Toriola further stated that heavy vehicles traveling from Egbeda/Alagutan towards Agege or Abule-Egba would be rerouted to the slip road bound for Lagos at Ecobank Roundabout. They will then make a U-turn at Iyana Dopemu in order to continue with their journeys.

He urged motorists to exercise patience, noting that the temporary closure of the ramp is part of the traffic management plan of the state government aimed at improving overall mobility and ensuring safety.
